DINSKY TYPEFACE

Wassily Kandinsky and Composition 8

Wassily Kandinsky was a renowned Russian artist who played a pivotal role in the development of abstract art in the early 20th century. Often hailed as one of its founders, his work is known for its vibrant colors and flat geometric shapes, used to express spiritual and emotional truths.

I admire Kandinsky’s use of geometry to convey these deeper meanings. His attempt to create compositions that are both abstract and balanced, reflecting a human experience that can often feel unstable, makes him a fascinating artist to study and understand.

Concept

I loosely based a grid on Kandinsky’s Composition 8, using its lines as markers to guide the letterforms. While not rigid, the grid offered a flexible structure that helped maintain consistency and balance.
